About MenkyoDojo

How MenkyoDojo's questions and explanations are written and checked, and how to contact us.

What MenkyoDojo is

A free study site for people getting a driver’s license in Japan and for people converting a foreign license. It has provisional and full-license mock tests, the license-conversion knowledge check, road signs, practical-test safety checks and a guide to every test center, in Japanese, English, Vietnamese, Nepali and Chinese.

The real exam and paperwork are in Japanese, so every translation is shown with the original Japanese question text.

How the questions and explanations are made

Answers are checked against the text of the Road Traffic Act and its Enforcement Order, as published on e-Gov, Japan’s official law database. Where a law applies, the explanation gives the article number.

Driving practice that the law does not spell out follows the National Public Safety Commission’s Rules of the Road (交通の教則) and is marked separately from legal requirements.

No questions are copied from other publishers’ question banks. Translations in the four other languages are made against the Japanese question text.

Not an official site

MenkyoDojo is a personal site with no connection to the National Police Agency, prefectural police or any driver’s license test center. Procedures, fees and reception hours can change, so always confirm with the official information for your test center.
